Popham Beach, located in Phippsburg, Maine.Best riding is at low tide; at that time, you can go out to the rocky outcropping of Fox Island. You can also ride down the beach to the old fort, and ride right up to it! Riding is limited to the off-season, October 1 to March 31. The beach is about 2 to 3 miles long, depending on the tide. There is a large parking lot for at least 10 or 12 trailers. Please call ahead to let the park know when you are coming: 207-389-1335, or 207-389-9125. There is an honor fee system. No camping.

Directions: Take Route 1 to Bath, and just past the Holiday Inn on the right, exit at Rt. 209 South. Follow 209 S, about 15 miles, to Popham Beach State Park, on the right. Enjoy the wind, surf, a great gallop on a great beach!!!
